Locations

There are 11 types of locations on our map. Each location has a detailed description, photos, and filters. Some locations have additional parameters, such as services, leisure activities, the presence/absence of paid services, and more.

Wild Camping - an unequipped camping spot without any amenities. It could be a clearing in a forest, by a lake, etc.
Camping - places for road travelers in an open-air camp with specific infrastructure. Here, you can arrive with a tent or in a motorhome, and some sites offer rental cabins. Always specify the services provided by the camp. For this type, you can choose an approximate service cost, add a website, contact details.
Country Hotel - a place where you can rent accommodation, park a vehicle, and access special services. This location type allows for selecting an approximate accommodation cost, adding a website, contact details.
Important!Vacation homes/hotels, etc., can be added to this location type only if they offer services that road travelers can use without checking in. This could be a shower, on-site parking, etc. (please specify available services in the description).
Parking - a place with a parking sign. The parking description should specify the types of vehicles that can use the parking in the added location. The description can include a paid parking attribute and parking suitable for sleeping - parking with such attributes will be marked with additional signs - read below.

Landmark - places of cultural and/or historical significance. Here, you can take a unique photo, attend a tour, or just admire. Always specify how close you can get by vehicle.
Water Source - places where you can collect drinking water. Specify how close you can get by vehicle and the source's characteristics (water pressure, whether you can fill large canisters). Only list verified equipped sources; don't put other travelers at risk!
Auto Service - a place where your vehicle can be repaired. We ask you to approach this location type with utmost responsibility and specify exactly which types of transport can be repaired at the added location.
Farm - this includes farms, wineries, etc. At such places, you can buy the freshest products. Sometimes there's an overnight stay service, parking, and often restaurants. Please mark all the important and useful moments for other travelers in the description!

Information about the location is added step by step. Before adding, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the Rules for adding places (The Rules can also be downloaded in the app by clicking on the “Gear” icon in the upper right corner of the profile).

Here's a brief guide:

In the bottom menu, there's a "+" button in the center. Click on it and select “Add place to map”.
Move the marker to the desired point on the map.
- Option one:
  By default, the map opens at the user's current location. If your point is nearby, simply move the map to the desired location, adjusting its scale.
- Option two:
  Find the desired area on the map using search, for instance, by entering a city near the desired location, and then use manual map movement.
- Option three:
  The current address of the point is indicated at the top of the screen. You can either enter the desired address there or edit the current one.
After selecting a location on the map, click the “Add place” button.
Then choose the appropriate type of place. To determine the place type, refer to the section “What types of locations exist and what distinguishes them?”
Provide information about the place:
- Indicate how you can get to the place: sedan, bus, motorhome, caravan, motorcycle, 4x4 jeep, or on foot (hiker).
- You can select multiple types. Specify any restrictions on the way to the location: bad road, seasonal restrictions, height or width restrictions.
- Specify the quality of cell signal at the location.
- Provide details: operating hours, seasonal operation, any paid services, and if pets are allowed.
- Fill in the name and description of the place - try to provide as much detail as possible:
  - About the road to the location.
  - How many vehicles can fit at the location.
  - Before adding the point, make sure it's not on private property (if it's private property, get permission from the owner).
  - If you're adding a hotel or a location with paid services, list available services and their costs, e.g., shower, parking on-site, etc.
- Review the Rules for adding places (The Rules can also be downloaded in the app by clicking on the “Gear” icon in the upper right corner of the profile).
- Add photos of the location. Add more informative photos showing your vehicle, and any challenging spots on the approach.
Click the “Submit” button
- Your location will be sent for moderation and will appear on the map after successful verification by moderators.

All added locations go through moderation, so it may take some time for your locations to appear on the map. The maximum moderation time is 3 working days. If your point is still in moderation after three days, please don't hesitate to contact us at info@govanlife.app Don't worry, if your location doesn't appear on the map, it's already uploaded to the database and won't be lost.

You can suggest changes to an existing location on the map. When you click the 'Suggest Changes' button in the location card, the following functionality will be available: - Edit description - Add photos - Edit mobile network quality - Full editing Make the necessary changes, and after moderation by a moderator, the location will appear on the map with the changes.

To determine the type of place, we recommend referring to the Rules for Adding Places (you can also download the rules in the app by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner of the profile).

Locations that have been previously loaded within a radius of 200 km from the center of the screen when entering or after clicking the 'Search in this area' button will be displayed without the internet. To prevent loaded locations from disappearing from the map, do not close the app completely; instead, switch it to the background mode on your device.

Open the location you are interested in and scroll down to the section with ratings and reviews, where you will find the corresponding button. You can only add a review once. If you have already left a review for a location, the button will change to 'Edit Review.'
